University
Presbyterian Church will celebrate it's Jubilee on
January 29th, 2009! We are the youngest of the Reformed
Presbyterian Churches, General Synod and the last of
those congregations planted in the United States of
America in 1959. Today we enjoy the company of those
congregations that make up the Presbyterian Church in
America.
"The church is a company of faithful and holy
people, or persons called out of the world to fellowship
with Jesus Christ, and united in one congregation to him
as members to their head, and one with another, by a
holy covenant for mutual fellowship in all such ways of
holy worship of God, and of edification of one towards
another."
In the seventeenth century, an American Christian
compiled these words to strengthen and encourage his
congregation in Boston. His first sermon series at this
church was entitled "The Covenant of God's Free
Grace," which is where this quote comes from. This
great quote was found by a former Pastor of this
congregation, The Rev. John Jones.
You can read the entire Vision
Statement of UPC on our site, but this quote neatly
describes who we are, a people undoubtedly touched by
the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Jesus has
gathered us, He has united us to Himself, He has united
us to each other, He has brought us into fellowship with
God, and He edifies us. What wonderful grace!
